Deadline set for Klitschko-Povetkin fight
Wladimir Klitschko will have to put his WBA heavyweight belt on the line against Alexander Povetkin, the governing body has declared.
Klitschko is the WBA's super champion, while Povetkin holds the body's regular belt. And the association wants the two to meet and have set a February 24 deadline for fight to take place.
The two parties are in talks, Povetkin's promoter Vladimir Hrunov has said, and it is being claimed that a date and venue will be announced before the end of December.
Povetkin is unbeaten in 25 career fights and proved too strong for Hasim Rahman in September, while Klitschko cruised to victory over Mariusz Wach in his most recent bout.
