Froch: Kessler 'chicken' if he ducks rematch

IBF world super-middleweight champion Carl Froch is ready to brand Mikkel Kessler a chicken should the Dane's camp fail to agree terms on a unification bout in May.

Kessler, the WBA champion, defeated Froch on points Denmark in 2010 and the Nottingham native is determined to set the record straight.

Froch's promoter Barry Hearn has tabled a £4 million offer with Kessler's camp for a meeting at London's O2 Arena and currently rates the chances of reaching an agreement as '70-30'.

But the clock is ticking, with the IBF requiring a deal by Tuesday January 15 before purse bids open with mandatory challenger Adonis Stevenson.

"Everything is in place for what will be the biggest fight in Britain for the last 10 years," Froch told the Daily Star. "It is the fight everybody wants.

"The television companies are happy and we have a couple of options on venues. He has been made an offer so it is all down to him now.

"And Mikkel was talking about a rematch anytime, anywhere, so I'm hopeful. But if he does pull out, I'll be phoning him and calling him chicken."
