Pacquiao offered Dubai opportunity
Interest around Manny Pacquiao's ring return is gathering pace following an unofficial offer of $10 million to fight in Dubai in April.
The Filipino's trainer Freddie Roach believes the location would be ideal for his man but insisted that it was promoter Bob Arum who will ultimately decide.
Arum has said the 34-year-old welterweight is not looking at a return on American soil because of the high rate of tax on fight purses.
Pacquiao is currently banned from fighting in Las Vegas following his brutal knockout by Juan Manuel Marquez in December. His collapse in the sixth round, after a vicious right from the Mexican, led to the Nevada Boxing Commission suspending his licence for 120 days.
But a warm-up fight away from the US, ahead of a potential re-match with Marquez in late summer, is a possibility. Singapore and Manila have both been voiced as potential cities to host the fight and Roach says Dubai should rank alongside them.
"I got a phone call from someone in Dubai on Monday, who offered $10 million for Manny to fight there in April," Roach told Sport360.
"A place like Dubai for a fight could be great. It's a great location for pay-per-view and TV networks and it would be seen worldwide. There would definitely be a lot of interest for a fight to take place there so it has the potential to be a great event.
"But I told him to call Bob Arum because I don't make his fights; I just get him ready."
