Ricky Burns is confident a tough training camp will enable him to defend his WBO lightweight title against Miguel Vazquez next month.

Burns will take on Vazquez at Wembley Arena on March 16 and he is aware of the threat posed by the Mexican.

With Vazquez bringing his IBF belt to the table, Burns has the chance to take control of the division and he has been battling freezing temperatures to ensure he is in top shape for a fighter who has only lost to Saul Alvarez and Timothy Bradley.

"We went over for a week," Burns told the Daily Mirror "Andreas' (Evensen) trainer got in touch with us and it was organised before the fight was announced.

"It was a good trip apart from the weather. It was freezing. Even they said it was colder than usual.

"I had a good time though. Andreas' style is totally different, but I said I would help him out so it was a good start to the training camp and I'm looking forward to my fight.

"This is one of the hottest nights of boxing in Britain for a while. It is a big card, with great fights on it."
