Amir Khan will meet Julio Diaz at Sheffield's Motorpoint Arena on April 27 in what will be his first fight on UK soil for two years.

The former four-time world champion announced at the start of the week he would be back in the ring in the UK, but did not reveal who his opponent would be, saying on Twitter: "Next fights in UK everyone after 2 years. Venue TBA."

Now, it has been confirmed the 26-year-old will do battle with Mexican Diaz, which will end a two-year run without a fight on home territory for the Bolton boxer.

The last time Khan fought in the UK he controversially overcame Northern Ireland's Paul McCloskey in April 2011 in Manchester, being awarded the win through a sixth-round technical decision after McCloskey suffered a deep cut to his forehead.

On Tuesday, Diaz said a fight was on the cards against Khan, and also promised to expose his "weaknesses".

Khan was last in action in December where he defeated Carlos Molina in Los Angeles.

Olympic medallist Anthony Ogogo is expected to make his professional debut on the same bill.
