New direction for Groves following Warren split

George Groves is heading in 'another direction' after splitting from Frank Warren and walking away from a fight against Mohamed Ali Ndiaye.

Groves had been slated to face Ndiaye for the vacant European super-middleweight title later in March.

However, Warren has announced that Groves informed him of his decision not to take the fight and the two are now headed down different paths.

A statement for Warren read: "He has stated that he is not interested in boxing for the EBU title at this moment and would like to take his choice of fights in another direction.

"I would like to wish George all the best with his career and look forward to working again with him in the near future."

In another blow to Warren, the card that Groves was expected to feature on has been moved back a month.

Ricky Burns and Nathan Cleverly are to appear on the card, but it has been put back from March 16 to April 20 as Burns' opponent Miguel Vazquez has been struck down with a viral infection.
