Brian Rose will take on former WBA light-middleweight champion Joachim Alcine on April 20 as he prepares to take the next step in his career.

Former world champion Alcine will be the 28-year-old's opponent at the Winter Gardens in front of his home fans.

Alcine suffered a first-round knockout defeat to Matthew Macklin in his previous fight last September, but has shown he can fight at the top level, beating Travis Simms (inflicting his only defeat on him) to claim the WBA belt six years ago and overcoming David Lemieux.

Rose has only been beaten once, and is ready to step up in class. "Anything put in front of me I'll take and I'm ready for the next chapter," he said.

"I want to step on from British level up to world level and we'll see if I'm ready for that against Alcine. I think I am and so do the team so let's do it.

"I'm over the moon to land this fight and to get it at home is even better. I get great support in Blackpool and I hope they all turn up on April 20 for a great night."
