Amir Khan has admitted he is striving to eliminate errors in a bid to get back to the top of the world.

Khan has long been touted for greatness and is a past world champion, but he has suffered three shock losses - two of which have come in recent fights - and he has work to do to rebuild his reputation.

The Bolton man has switched trainers from Freddie Roach to Virgil Hunter and the two are working on making Khan a smarter boxer who is harder to hit.

"I am not a complete fighter," Khan told the Sun. "I make a lot of mistakes but I'm working to put them right. Little errors can cost you - as I have found out. There is a lot more focus in my training camp than before.

"Virgil is the one who tells me about those mistakes, shouting from the corner and making me more disciplined."

Khan is due to fight Julio Diaz in a catchweight contest at 143lbs in Sheffield on April 27. It is a fight he hopes will set him on the path to glory at light-welterweight (140lbs) before a step up to welterweight (147lbs).

He said: "I still want to fight at 140lbs and win titles again at that weight before I move up.

"I want to go up as a world champion to 147lbs and then give my titles up."
