Brook bout with Alexander in doubt for third time

Kell Brook's IBF welterweight title fight with champion Devon Alexander may be in doubt again after Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn confirmed Brook is receiving treatment for a foot injury.

Hearn took to Twitter on Friday to confirm the unbeaten 26-year-old welterweight had injured his foot in training ahead of the May 18 bout with Alexander at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, prompting fears the fight could be put back once more.

"Regarding Kell Brook - he has been receiving some treatment for a foot injury. Will update if any further news," Hearn said through his Twitter account.

Should Brook withdraw, it would be the third time the fight has been rescheduled due to injury. Brook was originally set to meet Alexander on January 19 but the Sheffield-born fighter's camp opted for a rearrangement after he rolled his ankle in December.

The fight was then moved to February 23 but, two weeks prior to that date, Alexander pulled out due to a bicep injury.

There has been no word from Brook regarding his most recent injury, or anything on the status of the fight from Alexander's promoter Golden Boy.
