Simpson-Choi added to Burns night
John Simpson will face Choi Tseveenpurev for the vacant WBO Intercontinental super-featherweight belt on the undercard of Ricky Burns' mandatory title defence in Glasgow next month.
Burns' bout with Jose Gonzalez tops the billing for the 'Fighting Pride of Scotland' night at the Emirates Arena on May 11, where former British and Commonwealth champion Simpson will be looking to usher in the end of the British-based Mongolian's career.
But 41-year-old Choi, who shot to fame after winning Prizefighter in 2011, will have other ideas as he looks to bounce back from his defeat by Daud Cino Yordan in an IBO title bout last November.
"This fight has war written all it and the response already has been incredible," promoter Eddie Hearn told Sky Sports.
"Choi has a real cult following within the game and everyone knows how John Simpson likes to fight. Don't blink during this one!"
Also in action on home soil in Glasgow are Stephen Simmons, who takes on Michael Sweeney in a ten-round Celtic cruiserweight clash, David Brophy and Jon Slowey on a packed fight card.
