Eddie Hearn has hinted that Kell Brook could make his return to the ring in July, fighting on the card of new Matchroom signing Luke Campbell 's professional debut in Hull.

Brook was forced to pull out of his scheduled May 18 IBF welterweight title shot with champion Devon Alexander following the recurrence of a long-standing foot injury, postponing the bout for a third time.

Lee Purdy was recently announced as Brook's replacement to face Alexander in Atlantic City, which will still count as a mandatory defence for the American.

Hearn previously maintained that Sheffield-born Brook would have to wait a lengthy time before the chance of another shot at Alexander, and the promoter has stated that a summer return in Yorkshire alongside new professional Campbell is now the likeliest option.

"The bill will be built up around Luke Campbell, and it looks like Kell Brook will make his return to action on the same show," Hearn told Sky Sports. "We are going to grow Luke Campbell all over the country but the journey will begin on July 6 or 13 in Hull with a huge outdoor event.

"We are talking to the KC Stadium and Craven Park and the KC is the favoured choice, but they do have the problem of re-laying the pitch.

"It probably will be a 10-rounder, then we want to put him in a big fight in September."
