Floyd Mayweather Jr insists his time in jail has not slowed him down - and feels "unbeatable" heading into his fight against Robert Guerrero next month.

The undefeated WBC welterweight champion returns to the ring for the first time since his release after serving two months for attacking his ex-girlfriend, and the American believes there will be no signs of looking out of shape when he takes on Guerrero on May 4.

"Of course I feel unbeatable. I'm in the sport where I'm the best," Mayweather Jr, set for his first fight in a year, said. "I'm not going into the fight thinking I'm beatable."

Mayweather Jr has recorded 26 knockouts in 43 outings, and the 36-year-old says jail has not changed him as a person, with his fitness not being affected as well.

"I'm in tip-top condition. I'm in great shape. I have been working hard. It was just an obstacle that was in my way. I'm happy to be home. There's nothing cool about losing your freedom. Freedom is extremely important."

On the contrary, Guerrero is of the opinion Mayweather Jr will not be at his best for the fight.

"Most definitely Floyd Mayweather is taking me seriously," Guerrero, who has lost just the one fight in his career, said.

"It has been his longest training camp in a long time. Being a whole year's layoff, he's going to feel the punches. We're going after him the whole fight. It's going to take a little time to shake that ring rust off."

On what Guerrero thinks of him, Mayweather Jr replied: "If that's his way to psyche himself out and build confidence, more power to him."
