Haroon Khan made a winning professional debut, but he was given a stiff test by Brett Fidoe in Sheffield.

Big things are expected of Amir Khan's brother and he was made to work hard in the four-round contest.

Fidoe came into the fight with two defeats to his name, but he had proved his durability and he did not shirk the issue.

Khan came out throwing early on, but was a touch wild on occasions as Fidoe slipped under the shots.

Khan walked on to a big right from Fidoe in the third and the pro debutant had to hold on for a few seconds before the bell sounded.

Fidoe sensed a chance in the final round and came forward with some big shots, but Khan showed good footwork to evade the danger and he was handed a 40-37 victory.

"That is the hardest fight out of the way," Khan told BoxNation. "I boxed well, it could have been better but I have a lot to learn.

"It took a couple of rounds to settle in, it is different to the amateurs. It was a large crowd and it was tough, but a win is a win."
