Fury: I'd fight Velasquez for the 'right money'

Tyson Fury has stated that he would be willing to fight UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez in a one-off fight, but only for the right pay cheque.

Unbeaten Fury defeated Steve Cunningham in New York in April, before UFC president Dana White issued a rallying call for the 24-year-old to swap the ring for the octagon and face Velasquez.

"Come on over and we'll make a deal," White said. "You want to fight Cain? You will get smashed."

The Manchester heavyweight confirmed his interest in a possible bout, stating the money would have to be right in order to step-up to the California champion.

"I have challenged him before and would consider taking him on in a one-fight deal," Fury told the Daily Star's Kevin Francis. "I would beat him and then return to boxing.

"I am 100% up for a fight with him. I've challenged him to a fight three times but he's a little boy who doesn't want to fight and has said 'No' to the fight live on television.

"I'm definitely interested but the money would have to be right."

However, the 30-year-old American is hesitant over whether the fight will occur, believing that Fury is only hinting towards a meet in order to fuel publicity around his own name.

"I'm not a boxer," Velasquez said. "I'm a mixed martial artist and if he wants to fight he can go into the UFC and work his way up like everybody else has to do.

"I didn't even know who he was until this and I think he's using my name to gain publicity, which he has done."
