Kessler plans shock for 'same old' Froch

Mikkel Kessler has warned Carl Froch to expect "a couple of surprises" during their super-middleweight unification bout at The O2 after taking a shot at the IBF champion for not evolving as a boxer.

WBA champion Kessler beat Froch on points when the duo met in 2010, but while Froch has lost just once in the interim and claimed another world title the Dane sees nothing new in his opponent's armoury.

"He is making a lot of mistakes - I also think that he never changes," Kessler told Danish news agency RITZAU. "A lot of the stuff he is doing, is exactly the same thing he has been doing for years.

"Of course he has gained some experience with his fights, but essentially he is doing the same things he's always done."

In contrast, Kessler has been working on a fresh plan of attack for Froch when they step into the ring once more on May 25.

"I've watched the first fight against Carl a few times, but not that much," Kessler admitted. "My trainer watches it twice a day though. We're coming to London fully prepared and with a couple of surprises in store for Froch."

Having beaten Froch in Denmark, Kessler believes the Nottingham native could struggle with the pressure of boxing for revenge - not to mention potential showdowns with Andre Ward or Bernard Hopkins - in front of a home crowd.

"I'm sure that this, being his biggest fight at home, will lead him to come flying out of his corner from the opening bell. He wants to show that he's the champion. That's just good [for me]."
