James DeGale will defend his WBC Silver super-middleweight title against Stjepan Bozic on June 8 having only demolished Sebastien Demers less than a fortnight ago.

The 27-year-old has won his previous five fights since losing to bitter rival George Groves in 2011 by a close points decision.

His latest opponent Bozic is a former world title challenger and has won 26 of his 32 bouts.

Ahead of the fight with the Croatian, 2008 Olympic gold medallist DeGale said: "This year is going to be a big year for me. I'm looking to be the first ever British Olympic gold medallist who goes on and wins a professional world title and I just want to show my fans and especially the British fight fans what I'm made of."

DeGale is only focused on his tussle with Bozic and admits he is not thinking about future fights for world titles.

"I'm not overlooking anyone, whoever gets put in front of me I'm training for like it was a world title fight," he said. "I know that there are big names out there, but the first thing I have to do is take care of Stjepan Bozic on June 8.

"I'm the WBC Silver champion and ranked highly with the world governing bodies, I'm aiming to put on a great show at Glow, Bluewater and if either Froch or Groves feel ready for a domestic super fight I hope they realise that I'm ready for them too - let's get it on."
