Chisora sees Scott as stepping stone to title shot

Chisora feels ready for Scott

Dereck Chisora believes that an impressive win over Malik Scott could line him up for a world title shot.

After a spell in the boxing wilderness, Chisora has got his career back on track and recently bounced back from his defeats to Robert Helenius, Vitali Klitschko and David Haye to secure a workmanlike win over Hector Alfredo Avila.

Chisora's trainer Don Charles is convinced his man is on the brink of breaking back into the heavyweight world title mix and the 29-year-old feels a dominant display on July 20 could set him on the path to glory.

"It depends on how you deliver the win," Chisora said on ESPN's Steve Bunce boxing podcast. "It depends how you fight, it depends on how you do it. I don't think I'm like two fights away from the world title shot, I think I'm one fight away. In the next month I'm going to be challenging for a world title."

Scott is unbeaten in 36 fights and comes with a reputation as a speedy heavyweight who is hard to hit. Chisora is aware of the talents of Scott but is happy to have taken a fight against someone of Scott's calibre.

"This guy uses the ring very good and he's unbeaten, that's another factor on the cards as well but I like a good challenge and this is like one of the biggest challenges I've got in my career and anyway, the whole world will be watching," Chisora said.
