Wladimir to fight Povetkin in October
Wladimir Klitschko will defend his heavyweight world titles against Alexander Povetkin on October 5, both parties confirmed on Tuesday.
Klitschko, the WBA, IBF, WBO, IBO and The Ring titleholder, will fight the undefeated Russian on his home turf - with the fight due to take place in Moscow's Olympic National Sports Complex.
Povetkin was the mandatory challenger for Klitschko's WBA strap.
"I'm really pleased the fight has been set," Klitschko said. "Boxing fans around the world await the meeting of two Olympians.
"This fight will be the best in the heavyweight division and I'm impressed by the fact it will be held in Moscow, because many Russian and Ukrainian fans have the chance to attend."
Klitschko's manager, Bernd Boente, added: "Despite long and arduous negotiations, both sides had the desire and willingness to reach an agreement.
"And now we will work together to provide one of the best fights that can be made."
