- David Haye v Tyson Fury
Haye laughs off Fury fight conspiracy theories
David Haye has laughed off suggestions that he deliberately injured himself to avoid facing unbeaten Tyson Fury.
The former heavyweight champion was cut above the left eye in sparring on Tuesday, forcing him to postpone his showdown with unbeaten Fury, originally scheduled for Saturday, until February.
But speaking for the first time since the accident, Haye described the conspiracy theories as "a joke".
"I've heard all the consipracy theories," he told Sky Sports.
"They've been quite funny; head-butting walls and getting people to do this and do that, but it's just a cut that happens in sparring; a million times in sparring all over the world - at every level.
"When George Foreman was fighting Muhammad Ali in the Rumble In The Jungle, the biggest boxing match in history, he got cut eight days before the fight, so it happens at all levels.
"But to consider the conspiracies is a bit of a joke."
Haye went on to explain his disappointment about not being able to "close the Tyson Fury chapter" just yet.
"It's really annoying because I didn't anticipate to think about Tyson Fury over Christmas, New Year or even 2014.
"The whole Tyson Fury chapter was going to be closed, well and truly on Saturday night, about a round-and-a-half into the fight.
"The Tyson Fury hype was going to be completely finished and we'd never really had spoken of him again.
"But now we've got to listen to this idiot, the guy continuously rant on with his stupid comments. I'll try not to let him ruin my Christmas!"
Earlier on Friday, Fury told the press that the re-scheduled fight is not yet finalised.
