'Alexander fight will still happen'

Amir Khan's team have released a statement dismissing reports that a fight with Floyd Mayweather has been finalised.

Reports early on Thursday suggested the fight has been agreed for Las Vegas on May 3, with Khan cancelling his December showdown with Devon Alexander as a result.

But there is a lot of red tape still to be sorted, including contractual issues - with Khan still with one fight remaining on his agreement with subscription channel BoxNation.

The statement read: "Team Khan would like to dispel recent reports that Amir Khan has pulled out of a potential match-up against Devon Alexander on December 7, taking up a fight against Floyd Mayweather in May of next year instead.

"Contrary to this story, Amir Khan is currently in training camp in San Francisco with the aim of fighting again in December against Alexander once an agreement can be reached."
