Furious promoter sacked heavyweight Hamer on Twitter
Boxing promoter Lou Di Bella slammed fighter Tor Hamer for retiring half way through his fight with Andy Ruiz Jr on Saturday - before announcing on Twitter that he was releasing him.
Hamer fought Ruiz on the undercard of Manny Pacquaio's bout with Brandon Rios in Macau, but quit from his stool midway through the heavyweight clash. His decision to end the fight on his own accord prompted a chorus of boos from the crowd.
Throwing in the towel not only cost Hamer a chance of winning the WBO inter-continental and vacant North American Boxing Federation (NABF) titles, but also earned the American a keyboard backlash from his now ex-promoter.
It is not the first time Hamer has retired from his own corner, though. The 30-year-old withdrew from his December 2012 fight with Vyacheslav Glazkov after only four rounds.
That is an embarrassment @TorHamer . Time to become a pilot. Sorry to the fans. That is not #DBE
