David Price's promoters have confirmed that he has relinquished his British and Commonwealth titles, but the heavyweight insists he is still determined to square off with Dereck Chisora in 2014.

Price had been due to defend his belts against Dereck Chisora, but has instead decided to step away from the domestic scene in an attempt to rebuild following two defeats by Tony Thompson.

A tweet from Sauerland Promotions, who linked up with Price last month, read: "Confirmed: @DavidPrice_1 relinquishes British and Commonwealth titles - concentrating on rebuilding moving up world rankings."

Price said: ''I am extremely proud to have been British and Commonwealth champion. I have some fantastic memories of some great nights winning and defending both belts.

"Now the time is right for me to move in a different direction in order to rebuild my career and achieve my ultimate goal of becoming heavyweight world champion.

"As for the fight with Dereck [Chisora], this is something that really interests me and I'd hope it has the potential to be made later next year.''

The Liverpudlian will return to the ring against Evgeny Orlov on December 14 in Germany.
