Wladimir Klitschko has revealed he will target the WBC heavyweight crown after brother Vitali decided to vacate the title and concentrate on politics.

The 37-year old currently holds the WBO, WBA, IBF and IBO belts, but wants secure his brother's old WBC title and become the first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis.

"It is obviously my aim to bring the WBC title back into the Klitschko family," Klitscko said.

Vitali gave up his belt on Monday having not defended it for 15 months. The 42-year-old, who is one of the central figures involved in the political unrest in his native Ukraine, was appointed "champion emeritus" by the WBC, meaning he would automatically get a shot at the title should he decide to make a return.

Wladimir Klitschko has recently been ordered to face Alex Leapai in a mandatory defence after the WBO named the Australian as their No. 1 contender.
