Jones Jr schooled Benmakhlouf throughout the fight, which was stipulated as a "winner takes all" bout with the victor claiming the entire purse.

He takes home the vacant WBU V cruiserweight belt - although this is not the same World Boxing Union which was contested throughout the nineties, but a German version boasting the same name.

Algerian Benmakhlouf was angered various times throughout the fight as Jones Jr pulled off his trademark show-boating. However, the American never really faced any trouble and came through comfortably, forcing his opponent to the floor in the third with a huge left hand.
