Groves: I'm still the biggest fight for Froch

George Groves believes a world title rematch would be "the biggest fight" for super-middleweight rival Carl Froch, and has called for the 'Cobra' to make it happen.

Froch controversially stopped Groves in the ninth round of their Manchester bout on November 23, despite having been knocked down in the first round, to retain his WBA and IBF belts. At the time of the stoppage, Groves was ahead on all three scorecards and looked the likelier winner.

Referee Howard Foster then intervened as Groves took heavy punishment on the ropes and, much to the crowd's displeasure, handed Froch the win.

Despite Froch's reluctance to hand the challenger a rematch, Groves revealed his camp are still working on a solution and insists he should be a world champion now.

"My thoughts haven't changed," Groves told the Swindon Advertiser. "I should be world champion right now. I've had those two belts taken away from me unjustly. We're in the process of sorting that [a rematch with Froch] out, so to speak.

"My ideal plan would be to get a rematch. I've made that very clear. If Carl Froch is a man then I'm sure he'll step up and give me the rematch. It's the biggest fight out there for him. Commerically, financially he is nowhere near going to touch those aspects of his boxing life unless he fights me in a rematch.

"It could end up being one of the biggest British fights of all time. Why would you not want to be part of that and be part of history? I'm going for that, if not we'll figure out another route."
