Groves wants Froch bout deemed no contest
George Groves has confirmed he has written to the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBoC) asking them to change the result of his defeat to Carl Froch to a no contest.
Froch defended his WBA and IBF super-middleweight titles in his November fight with Groves after referee Howard Foster controversially ended the bout in the ninth round.
At the time of the stoppage, Groves was ahead on all three of the judges' scorecards and had knocked Froch down in the opening round. However, Foster stepped in as Groves took heavy punishment from the Cobra in the ninth, much to the challenger's anger.
While promoter Eddie Hearn recently stated negotiations between the two camps over a potential rematch were ongoing, Groves took to social networking site Twitter on Tuesday to reveal he had written to the BBBoC regarding the result of the first fight.
Yes, I have written to the BBBoC for the Froch to be deemed a no contest due to Howard Fosters actions. He incorrectly ended the fight.

Earlier in January, the IBF ordered a rematch between Froch and Groves but later rejected the Hammersmith fighter's appeal over the 85%-15% purse split.
Froch recently released a statement in which he claimed Groves had turned down a seven-figure offer for a rematch, although Groves later stated he was unhappy with several clauses in the contract. The Emirates Stadium - home of Arsenal FC - has been mooted as a potential venue for a rematch in May.
