Khan teams up with Mayweather advisor
Amir Khan's chances of securing a lucrative fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr have notably improved after the Bolton fighter confirmed he had signed with the American's boxing advisor Al Haymon.
Khan was tipped for a summer showdown with unbeaten Mayweather but was later overlooked by the world champion, who instead opted to defend his title against Marcos Maidana - despite Khan having topped a fans' poll set up by 'Money' himself.

However, signing with Haymon - who has been advisor to Mayweather for years and is fast becoming one of the most influential figures in world boxing - is a big statement from Khan, who is instead fighting Luis Collazo on the May 3 undercard of Mayweather's Las Vegas bout.
"I am very happy to have signed with Al Haymon who has not only shown that he is a very astute businessman but is extremely knowledgeable of the fight game and always has his fighters' best interests at heart," Khan said. "I'm looking forward to building a long and successful relationship during this exciting stage of my career."
Khan's decision to team-up with Haymon comes after his promoters, Golden Boy Promotions, failed to secure the fight with Mayweather.
However, a spokesman for Khan also said: "He's still with Golden Boy and will be continued to be promoted by them. Al Haymon will be there advising on fights and helping steer his boxing career going forward. [There is] no guarantee on Mayweather but it should hopefully make things a little easier when the time comes."
Haymon, a former music industry mogul, also has Adrien Broner - who Mayweather originally wanted Khan to fight on his undercard - and Danny Garcia on his books.
