- Floyd Mayweather v Marcos Maidana
Mayweather: Maidana knows I beat him
Floyd Mayweather Jr has refuted beaten opponent Marcos Maidana's claims he should have been declared winner in their welterweight unification fight on Saturday.
Maidana was left unhappy after a majority decision loss to Mayweather at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and immediately called for a rematch in his post-fight interview.
However Mayweather, who is now 46 fights unbeaten, declared there was only one winner and that, should they meet again, it would be a completely different fight to the first.
"People are used to seeing me go out there and blow people out; 12-0 [rounds]," Mayweather told Boxingscene.com. "Then finally when a guy can win, let's say out of 12 rounds he can win four, they're like 'Oh man, what's going on with Floyd? We've never seen this before.'
"If a guy wins three or four rounds then a lot of people are like 'Oh, he won the fight.' But in the arena, there were a lot of fans from Argentina cheering him on, which is a good thing. He knows as well as I know that he lost. If he didn't think [he was losing], he wouldn't have come out in the 12th round like he did.
"If we do fight again, if I do fight again, it won't be the same fight. It'll be totally different."
