Jamie Moore in hospital after Marbella shooting
Former European light-middleweight champion Jamie Moore is recovering in hospital after he was shot twice in the leg in Marbella.
Moore was recently appointed trainer to Matthew Macklin, ahead of the Birmingham middleweight's August 30 fight against Jorge Sebastian Heiiland in Dublin.
Macklin announced via Twitter that Moore had been attacked in Marbella but was now "ok" in hospital. It is reported that Moore, 35, underwent surgery on the back of his left leg and hip and is still under armed guard in hospital.
Macklin is based in the Spanish town, where he has his own gym. In 2006, the pair squared off in a brilliant tussle for the British light-middleweight title, in which Moore won by knockout.
Just to let everyone know Jamie Moore is still in hospital but he's ok. He was shot in his legs but the doctors have said there shouldn't be— matthew macklin (@mattmacklin) August 4, 2014
