Frank Warren insists Klitschko cannot duck Chisora

Promoter Frank Warren has revealed Wladimir Klitschko will not duck Dereck Chisora, because the Ukrainian is contractually bound to honour their bout.

Klitschko pulled out of the pair's fight on Wednesday evening, citing a torn muscle in his back that will keep him out of action for around six weeks. Chisora has other ideas on why the WBO and IBF champion withdrew, claiming he realised he was heading for a big upset.

"Wladimir saw me when we trained yesterday," Chisora said. "The German people were behind me and he didn't like that, so he's discussed with his promoter and said, 'you know what, this is a very risky fight, let's pull out'."

Since the withdrawal, it has been claimed that Chisora will now be overlooked by Klitschko, who is wanted by WBA heavyweight champion David Haye. However, Warren insists it is not possible to merely pick and choose opponents in such manner.

"I've read a lot of stuff over what's been said regarding Dereck's fight with Klitschko, but the fact is that the contract states they've got 30 days to give us a new date, and that [fight] should take place within 180 days of the postponement," Warren said on Sky Sports News.

"That's what we're waiting for the Klitschkos to inform us. That fight will take place next year."

Klitschko was less committal, insisting he has plenty of names queuing for the chance to fight him, but he did promise Chisora that the pair would meet in 2011.

"Next year we are going to have the fight," promised Klitschko. "There are a lot of fights and names coming up, one of them is Dereck Chisora, David Haye is around the corner as well. It's fantastic for British fans that Chisora has been created. He's right there."
