Floyd Mayweather Jr's demands for $100 million to face WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao have once again scuppered attempts to arrange an eagerly-anticipated meeting between the two boxers.

Management teams for the undefeated pair had still hoped to reach an agreement for what would be one of the most lucrative fights in the history of the sport.

But, after seeing earlier attempts to reach an agreement scuppered by Mayweather's demands for Olympic-style drugs testing, Pacquiao's manager, Bob Arum, has revealed another ridiculous request has left renewed discussions at a standstill once again.

Mayweather - nicknamed 'Money' - has reportedly demanded $100 million to step into the ring with the Filipino.

"That's right. That's for himself," Arum said. "If Floyd gets a hundred million, then Manny would have to fight for nothing."

Arum suggested re-opened negotiations had been progressing steadily in secrecy before Mayweather's people, including famed promoter Don King, started making such outlandish demands.

"We went through with the negotiations and nobody really knew about it," Arum said. "Then some group came in saying they plan to have it in a particular country. And Mayweather asked for a figure that was so high it was practically an indication that he didn't want to fight.

"He's not asking for the moon. He just can't say no. He doesn't want to fight. So, you price your way out of it."

Mayweather, who has fought just twice in almost four years, currently has a number of concerns outside of boxing to contend with - including a libel case pursued by Pacquiao over comments the American repeatedly made in the wake of the fighter's refusal to accept proposed drugs testing measures.
