Pacquiao camp gives Marquez Monday deadline

Manny Pacquiao's promoter Bob Arum has given Juan Manuel Marquez until Monday to accept a fight with the Filipino phenomenon.

Top Rank chief Arum is desperate to see Pacquiao and Marquez share the ring for a third time, following two previous classics. The first encounter ended in a draw in 2004, before Pacquiao claimed a controversial split decision four years later.

Arum has already marked November 12 in the calendar, and a multi-million pound offer has been forwarded to Golden Boy Promotions. All the Marquez camp has to do is agree to fight by 3pm on Monday.

"One week is enough (to match our offer)," said Arum, according to Tempo.

Arum enjoys a good relationship with Marquez, and the pair met during Pacquiao's victory over Shane Mosley in Las Vegas last week. A bout agreement should not prove a problem. Marquez stands to make over $1 million to fight in November, and he can double his money in a fourth encounter if he wins.

The pair will clash at a catchweight of 144lbs, with the Pac-man's welterweight belt on the line, and Arum is already planning the promotion of the event.

"Maybe at the end of July [it will start]," he said.
