Nico Rosberg says his tenth pole position of 2014 and perfect start to the weekend in Brazil will mean nothing if he cannot complete the job on Sunday.

Rosberg topped all three practice sessions and then edged out title rival Lewis Hamilton in qualifying by just 0.033s on Saturday, earning the inaugural FIA Pole Trophy in the process. However, Rosberg has converted just two of those into victories this season and, with Hamilton 24 points ahead in the title race with two rounds to go, Rosberg knows that trend cannot continue in Sao Paulo.

"Perfect job only if it works out tomorrow, unfortunately," Rosberg said when asked whether the day had been perfect. "Up to now it has been going well and it's the best place to be tomorrow. But, of course, I need to make it happen in the race, unlike Austin for example."

"Confidence is good, I'm optimistic too. I need to try and put a dent in Lewis' confidence, hopefully that worked out today. I just need to keep him behind tomorrow. It depends what he does but I'm out to win. Hopefully he's going to help me out a little bit points-wise."

The last round in Austin was one example of Rosberg failing to convert pole into a victory, with Hamilton hunting him down and passing him in the race. Rosberg says he feels like he's learned from that situation and feels better prepared going into Sunday.

"Pressure, it's pretty much similar. The adrenaline is there, the tension, the excitement. It's not been changing that much. I'm just here, I'm just going for it and pushing myself to stay optimistic all the time. Naturally I am optimistic. Learn from Austin … I know what I need to do better and from that point of view I'm good to go I've learned from what I did wrong in Austin - well, not what I did wrong but where I can improve."
