Button still perplexed by lack of pace

Jenson Button said he is still at a loss to explain his lack of pace over the last three races after another poor race in Canada.

Button crossed the line 16th in Montreal after making three pit stops and struggling for pace in what was his second consecutive finish outside the points.

Asked by Sky Sports if he knew what was going wrong, he said: "I don't know ... just no speed at all. I couldn't look after the tyres, I didn't have any pace and there was nothing there. I was the only person on the primes at the beginning who couldn't look after their primes. It's been the same at the last couple of race and I don't know why that is. It's something I'm usually pretty good at so I don't know why."

And he's not convinced he will be able to solve the problem ahead of the next round in Valencia.

"Haven't got a clue at the moment," Button added. "Every time we think we've got some ideas we don't seem to make any progress. I don't know why that is. Driving around 1.5s slower than the leaders when one is my team-mate ... I don't know why. I just can't push the car any quicker."
