Sergio Canamasas will carry out a straight-line aero test for Caterham in France later this week.

Canamasas is part of the Caterham Racing Academy and drives for its GP2 team, though he has yet to score a point this season. It will be his first time in a Formula One car when he tests a CT03 on June 20 at France's Lurcy-Levis circuit near Magny Cours, and Canamasas said he was glad to be able to give the test his full attention during a break in the GP2 calendar.

"Taking part in the aero test with the F1 team is another step in my development and it's good to have the chance to help the team continue the progress they've made so far this year," Canamasas said. "I'm going to the factory at Leafield before the test for a seat-fit and to go through the detailed run-plan for the day with the engineers. With no GP2 activity until Silverstone at the end of June, I can fully focus on my F1 work for the next few weeks."

Technical director Mark Smith said it would be "a very busy day of track work" for Canamasas.

"The current regulations allow us to run a number of aero tests each season that give us the chance to run through aerodynamic development programs away from the time constraints of an F1 race weekend," Smith said. "Sergio will be in the car for us at the test we will run on 20 June and he will help us run through a very busy day of track work, helping us to continue to develop and giving him another level of exposure to the F1 environment in which he is aiming to compete in the future."
