New Caterham owners restructure team

The Caterham F1 team has undergone the first steps of a significant restructuring process under its new owners.

The team has confirmed it has parted company with a number of employees as well as changes at senior posts. As announced before, Christijan Albers is now team principal, and Caterham has also confirmed that John Iley has been promoted to technical director with the aim of improving the 2014 car and working on the 2015 car.

In addition, Manfredi Ravetto has become general manager and deputy team principal. Simon Shinkins has also joined the team as COO, as well as Miodrag Kotur who is now team manager. Michael Willmer is the team's new director of legal affairs and Gianluca Pisanello is promoted to head of trackside engineering.

The team said it had parted company with a number of employees as "a necessary step taken by the new owners of Caterham F1 Team whose priority is the future of the team."

It added: "No further comment will be made at this time."
