Shane Williams has confirmed that contract talks with the Ospreys are on hold during the Six Nations, with the region yet to make a 'concrete offer' for the Wales winger's services.

The 33-year-old, who bagged his 53rd try for Wales against Scotland at Murrayfield on Saturday, is out of contract at the end of the season but would like to extend his time at the Liberty Stadium.

"I have been talking to the Ospreys and I want to stay, but I don't have a concrete offer from them at present," he told The Western Mail. "I've put off contract talks about my future until after the Six Nations because I have to focus on Wales for the time being."

The Ospreys have recently lost Wales internationals James Hook and Lee Byrne to Perpignan and Clermont Auvergne respectively, with skipper Alun-Wyn Jones also a target for French clubs. Tight-head Craig Mitchell will quit the region at the end of the current campaign while doubts remain about the future of British & Irish Lions scrum-half Mike Phillips.

Williams has also confirmed interest from abroad, but will not be making any snap decisions about a possible French sojourn, highlighting his links to his home region.

"I'll have to see what materialises but there is interest in me from France. I don't want to say specifically where from ... and that is something I may also have to consider," he said.

"If it came to it I would have to sit down with my wife Gail and go through the possibilities. A few of the Ospreys players have decided to try their hands in French rugby and good luck to them.

"I think Perpignan will be perfect for Hooky and Lee will flourish as well at Clermont Auvergne. Whether I would end up following them out there, I genuinely don't know. I've always said I'm a home bird at heart. I've never left my valley and never really had any desire to."

Meanwhile, the Ospreys have confirmed that 20-year-old winger Kristian Phillips has signed a two-year contract extension with the region.

The 20-year-old Tonmawr product is the youngest player to play in the Magners League and score a Magners League try, having set both records on his debut as a 17-year-old against Connacht in May 2008, and his new deal will keep him at the Liberty Stadium until 2013.

Phillips, who has scored four tries in 13 total appearances and was part of the extended Wales squad for the 2010 Six Nations, said: "It's great news for me, I'm really pleased that I'm going to be able to continue my rugby development here for the next two years.

"It's a commitment from me to my home region, and it's good to see the commitment from the Ospreys coaches who are putting their faith in me to continue improving."
