Nikki Walker scored a hat-trick as second-placed Ospreys beat Treviso 34-18 in a free-flowing Magners League clash at the Stadio Comunale di Monigo.

Walker opened the scoring in the 10th minute and then twice more in five second-half minutes as Ospreys scored five tries, while Tobias Botes starred for the hosts. He scored both his team's tries as well as hitting a conversion and two penalties in an impressive all-round showing.

There was positive news for Ireland as Tommy Bowe completed 80 minutes on his return from injury, raising the prospects of him facing Scotland at Murrayfield next weekend in the Six Nations.

Dan Biggar failed to covert Walker's opening try but was successful after Ian Gough scored the Welshmen's second try. Ashley Beck touched down Ospreys' third try in the 28th minute, but Biggar again failed with the conversion.

Treviso recovered some composure to get on the scoresheet through two Botes penalties, making it 17-6 at half-time.

After the restart Walker took control, adding his second and third tries after 47 and 52 minutes, with Biggar on hand each time with the extras. With the game threatening to turn into a procession, Biggar slotted Ospreys only penalty of the match after 56 minutes.

That was Ospreys last score, though, and the home fans were given more to cheer in the final 20 minutes. Botes went over in the 65th minute and again eight minutes later, with a pair of conversions taking his - and his side's - tally to 18 points.
