Edinburgh have appointed Michael Bradley as head coach on a two-year contract, succeeding interim boss Nick Scrivener.

The Magners League side parted ways with Rob Moffat after a disappointing start to the campaign and with Scrivener poised to return to Australia at the end of the season they have turned to former Ireland scrum-half Bradley, who made his name as coach of Connacht.

During seven seasons at the Sportsground the 48-year-old lifted Connacht out of the 'development' bracket and into contention domestically and in the Challenge Cup, also spending time coaching Ireland 'A' and Under-21.

"As a side the potential is there and it's up to me as head coach to bring that out in the guys in the next few years," he said. "Edinburgh have had inconsistent results in terms of winning and where the expectation might be.

"If you look at the winning that means the potential is there and if we can get consistency next year that is something we'll be striving for. Today [Tuesday] is my first day so later on today and tomorrow and all of next week we'll be planning.

"Once we've got that out of the way we'll have a clearer idea of what the details will be but it will be a big pre-season for us. We'll discuss all of our ambition for the future and on that basis we'll build a strategy around that to achieve it."

Meanwhile, Glasgow Warriors have agreed the signing of Connacht centre Troy Nathan on a two-year deal. The former Counties Manukau midfielder made 73 appearances while in Galway.

"He's a little bit older and with so many Scottish youngsters in our squad - which is good - and others hoping to be at the Rugby World Cup throughout September and October, we need an older head in the midfield," Glasgow boss Sean Lineen said. "A bit of maturity and experience is what we need."
