Isa Nacewa scored 13 points as Leinster beat Cardiff Blues 23-15 at the RDS to record their first win of the new season.

The hosts scored the only two tries of the game -- through Jack Conan and a penalty try -- with fullback Nacewa converting both and adding three penalties.

Victory lifts Leinster to ninth in the fledgling table, one point behind fifth-placed Blues who scored all their points on the day via the boot of Rhys Patchell.

Elsewhere, Scarlets made it two Guinness PRO12 wins from two after overcoming a big Ulster side 22-12, despite being reduced to 14 men for 27 minutes in total at Parc y Scarlets.

A try from wing Hadleigh Parkes and 14 points from the boot of fly-half Dan Jones helped the home side to victory despite having forwards Peter Edwards, John Barclay and George Earle all yellow-carded by referee Andrew Brace.

Ulster, who were minus wing Andrew Trimble (hip injury), came back in the second half with a Rory Scholes try and a late penalty try.

The day's other game saw Edinburgh edge out Benetton Treviso 27-24 in Italy thanks to a late Greig Tonks penalty.

The visitors scored three tries -- through Phil Burleigh, Damien Hoyland and Sam Beard -- with Tonks adding 12 points with the boot.

Treviso's tries came from Andrea Pratichetti and Duncan Naude, while Jayden Hayward kicked four penalties -- the last of which levelled the game before Tonks' dramatic intervention.
