Alex Brown has agreed a new two-year contract with Aviva Premiership club Gloucester.

Brown, 31, revealed he had received some "cracking offers" from elsewhere, but his new deal will extend his stay at Gloucester to 10 years after he joined them from Bristol.

The England lock, capped three times between 2006 and 2007, reached 200 Premiership appearances this season and remains a key part of the Gloucester squad under head coach Bryan Redpath.

"I did have some cracking offers from elsewhere, but even though I live in Bristol, Gloucester has become home for me," Brown said.

"When I look back on my career in years to come, having played 10 years at Gloucester will be something special to reflect upon. And, hopefully if things go alright, I can go on beyond that."

Meanwhile, fullback Luke Arscott and back-row forward James Phillips have both agreed new two-year contracts with Exeter. Both players joined the Chiefs from Bristol last summer and they have followed the likes of Gareth Steenson, James Scaysbrook and Haydn Thomas in signing new deals.
