Rugby Canada is looking to expand its pool of high performance coaches within the women's game.

Rugby Canada's Domestic Rugby Development Manager and Coordinator of Women's Rugby, Eva Havaris, described the initiative as a means to support the growth of the game, and provide development opportunities to more coaches.

"This is a very exciting time in women's rugby in Canada. We have several initiatives slated for implementation in the next 18 months across our high performance programmes and it was time to develop a strategy to recruit and develop more coaches around the country to both support the growth of the women's game and provide mentorship opportunities alongside our national coaches in a high performance environment."

Rugby Canada's current head coaches, Quentin Fyffe, Natascha Wesch, and John Coumbe-Lilley along with Director of High Performance, Geraint John, see this process as imperative at this time and fully endorse the initiative. "Coach development is a major focus within our high performance programmes moving forward and our current national coaches welcome the opportunity to mentor Canada's up and coming coaches in the women's game" commented John.

Quentin Fyffe, Canada's newly appointed senior women's 15s head coach will use this process to determine those individuals who will assist him in upcoming competitions at the senior level. "It is important to expand the pool of coaches in the women's game. We will be looking at applicants to be involved in the upcoming NA4 Competition, November Tour & High Performance Camps. The broader objective will be to have practice and expectations within the high performance programme filter down through coaches to players at provincial and club levels."
