The rift between Graeme Swann and Kevin Pietersen has been solved 'without too many problems', according to England head coach Andy Flower, after the spinner criticised Pietersen in his autobiography.

In his book, entitled The Breaks are Off, Swann wrote that while Pietersen was not a "useless captain" the batsman was "never the right man to captain England".

Swann added: "Some people are better leaders of men, and Kev, for all his abundant talent is not one of those natural leaders."

The comments evidently caused some friction between the two players during the current tour of India, but Flower has revealed that the matter has now been discussed and successfully resolved - with both players handling matters with maturity.

"I personally don't think that it's a good idea for current players to be talking (negatively) about their fellow players, however it's all been handled in-house and without too many problems to be honest," Flower told Sky Sports News. "Pietersen and Swann get on well, and I think Pietersen handled it very maturally."

When it was put to him that comments can appear harsher on paper than they would if spoken, Flower agreed.

"The written word does come across very differently," he added. "You can't judge a person's tone and I think, particularly with Swann's words, that is an accurate assessment."
