Stuart Broad has emerged as a doubt for the second Test with Sri Lanka.

Broad, who came into the first Test with a nagging ankle complaint, looked uncomfortable while batting in the second innings of a match England lost by 75 runs.

The England and Wales Cricket Board has confirmed Broad has a problem, but it is a calf rather than ankle that is causing concern.

"It is a tight calf, we will have to evaluate it over the next couple of days," England captain Andrew Strauss said of Broad's injury.

There is a swift turnaround, with the second Test in Colombo taking place next week, and Broad faces a race to prove his fitness.

Broad was one of just two seamers used in Galle, the other being James Anderson, and Tim Bresnan and Steven Finn will be in contention to step in.
