Andrew Strauss has refused to be drawn to speculate on his own position as England captain.

Strauss has been in poor form with the bat for some time, having failed to score a Test century throughout 2011.

While England ascended to the top of the Test tree Strauss' form could be glossed over, but he has come under scrutiny following the 3-0 loss to Pakistan. His poor run continued with scores of 26 and 27 during the defeat to Sri Lanka.

There have been calls for Strauss to be axed, but the England captain did not want to comment on his own position when questioned during a press conference on Thursday.

"That is not the sort of question I am going to comment on in the middle of a series," Strauss said. "My focus is on winning the next game and it would be wrong for me to think of anything otherwise.

"I am hitting the ball nicely, I feel in good form, but you are judged on your performances and I have not performed well enough. It is frustrating and hopefully I will put it right next week."
