Ravi Bopara declared England's current One Day International team the best in the country's history after a six-wicket victory over Australia at The Oval on Sunday.

Allrounder Bopara hit 82 and claimed one wicket as England marched into a 2-0 lead in the series - and if they secure a whitewash in the three remaining matches, they will go to No. 1 in the world rankings.

They are already in possession of top spot in both the Test and Twenty20 International standings, and Bopara feels this is as good a crop of players as England have produced.

"This is probably the best side we've ever had," Bopara said. "The bowlers are performing really well, putting pressure on batters. And our batters are performing, with someone in the top six always getting a big score.

"I enjoyed myself out there [at The Oval]. I told myself just to watch the ball and hit the ball, and I'm at my best when I do that. I'm batting the best I ever have and the changes I've made over the last six months have worked."
