Trott: Time for England to perform

Jonathan Trott views the second Test with India as a "fantastic opportunity" for England to show off their batting talents and get the series back on level terms.

England slipped to a nine-wicket defeat in the first Test in Ahmedabad, with their abject effort in the first innings ultimately costing them dear.

Captain Alastair Cook and Matt Prior led the fightback with fine knocks in the second innings and with that in mind, Trott feels it points to England's ability to score big runs on the sub-continent.

"Everything is in the changing room that we need, we just need to produce it on the field," Trott said. "We are looking forward to it, Mumbai is the heartbeat of Indian cricket, and it is a fantastic opportunity for us to get back to 1-1.

"We got caught out in the first Test and did not play well. It was a good fightback in the second innings and showed we can score big."

England are under the microscope on account of their record against spin, but Trott feels the batsmen are getting better in that department.

"I still think we are ever improving (against spin)," Trott said. "It gets highlighted a lot, generally you face a lot of spin out here so it is what is going to take the wickets."
