Trott: Dhoni runout could prove decisive

Jonathan Trott believes Alastair Cook's runout of India captain MS Dhoni late on day three could yet prove a series-clinching moment for England.

England were coming to the end of a difficult day in Nagpur when Graeme Swann ensnared Virat Kohli for 103 to break a fifth-wicket partnership with Dhoni of 198 - with Dhoni going soon after for 99 as the hosts ultimately finished the day at 297 for 8.

The fourth Test of the series remains evenly poised with two days remaining, but Trott believes England's late rally could come to prove crucial for the tourists.

"They played unbelievably well for five hours, and credit to them for that," Trott said of Kohli and Dhoni.

"But we stuck to our guns, kept the pressure on them and eventually we got a breakthrough and were able to push on.

"You've just got to trust yourself and your team-mates that when you get the chance you're able to take it - which happened."

He added: "Five hours without a wicket, then four wickets in an hour - that's what can happen, a fantastic advertisement for the game.

"It changes things massively, obviously. It's a credit to the guys for sticking it out for five hours, not getting a wicket, and then coming back into the game and evening it out.

"It's pretty neck and neck. It's thanks to the bowlers - and then to get a chance like Alastair did, and to be able to take it, is a game-changer and maybe a series-changer."
