Finn: Playing in India can be carnage

Steven Finn believes there is no more intimidating situation in sport than playing one-day cricket in India.

After winning the opening ODI international, England slumped to defeat in Kochi on Tuesday, in front of a deafening 60,000-strong crowd.

And the England fast-bowler believes the atmosphere in the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium was more hostile for the tourists than any other sportsmen will encounter in their careers.

"It is slightly intimidating having that many screaming Indians over your head," Finn said in the Sun. "We know that one-day cricket in India gets busy - it can be carnage - but it was amazing to play in an atmosphere like that.

"The lads have discussed it since and we wondered what sporting event in the world is that loud for that sustained period of time. I am not sure there is one. It was a phenomenal atmosphere to play in and something I really enjoyed."

Finn, who was victim of a controversial decision after being given out caught behind for a golden duck - even though replays suggested there was no edge - believes it is time for India to embrace the Decision Review System.

"In that atmosphere it is very difficult to hear a conversation, let alone a nick at the other end," he said. "The umpires have a very difficult job and moving forward DRS has a big part to play in the future of cricket I think. If there is DRS they should have it everywhere."
