Hampshire probe supermarket streaker claim
Hampshire County Cricket Club have launched an internal inquiry amid claims a player was caught naked in a supermarket.
The cricketer was in Ashford for Hampshire second XI's Twenty20 game with Kent's second string and the team allegedly spent the evening before the game drinking in a nearby hotel.
It is claimed that during the alleged drinking session, one of the party was dared to streak through the Sainbury's store. The streaker attempted to buy alcohol, but was refused and asked to leave the store.
Deputy store manager Jamie Curtis, speaking to the Kent Messenger, said: "We realise this was meant to be a bit of fun, but to avoid any embarrassment we asked the young man to leave the store straight away.
"We look forward to seeing him in store again - fully clothed."
A spokesman for Hampshire Cricket Club said: "We are aware of an alleged incident in Ashford last week and are conducting a thorough internal enquiry.
"Swift and appropriate action will be taken depending on the outcome of our own investigations."
Hampshire went on to lose the game with Kent by 48 runs.
